Selecting the correct seat

Child seats are made with shoulder height indicators to help determine which chid restraint is suitable and when to move to the next type of restraint.

Lower Shoulder Height Marker

Is my child too small for this restraint?

The lower height marker indicates the minimum shoulder height for a child in the restraint. If the child's shoulder is below the marker they are too small for the restraint.

Upper Shoulder Height Marker

Is my child too small for this restraint?

The upper height marker indicates the maximum shoulder height for a child in the restraint. If the child's shoulder is at the top marker they are ready to move to the next type of restraint.

Made / Position Change Height Marker

On some restraints shoulder height markers will determine when the restraint needs to change position or change to the next mode.

When the child's shoulders reach this marker, the seat must be moved in to the forward-facing mode.

When the child's shoulders reach this marker, convert the child restraint to Booster seat mode.

Australian safety standards approved products use height and age to determine the child seat required. Baby seats are appropriate for newborns and up, until they outgrow the height and product specified weight range. Usually around 4 years of age a larger booster seat is required. Booster seats can be used with a restraint or harness until the child reaches the height marker labels.

Age indicators on child restraints are to be used as an approximate guide only. As a part of our service we demonstrate the correct installation of our stocked child restraints and provide experienced guidance on how to adjust it to fit as your child grows. All in-fants and children should be seated in a suitable restraint when traveling in a vehicle for their own safety.
