Battery Testing To get a good indication of the health of your battery, our team provide a test and report for FREE. This health check with our Industry Standard Tester identifies current power performance against rated performance and determines if you need a new battery or it needs charging and maintenance. Drop into your local store today and speak with one of our friendly Team Members who can complete this for you in under 10 minutes.
Battery Recharging Simply driving your car around the block a few times is not enough to charge the battery in a modern vehicle. This is because a cars alternator is not designed to fully restore a depleted battery, but rather to maintain a healthy one. Correctly charging a battery is the easiest way to help restore battery performance, extend battery life and minimise the chance of a breakdown. Our team use an Intelligent Charging System using technology that communicates with the battery. It then delivers a balanced charging load and optimised charge program for each specific battery.
Battery Fitment Batteries come in all shapes and sizes, choosing the right battery for your car can be a daunting task. Installing an incorrect battery into your vehicle could cause damage due to accidental earthing on components or crossing the polarity of the battery. Let us do it for you!

Battery Recycling Did You Know? 98% of an automotive battery can be recycled! The components of the battery including plastic, lead and acid are re-processed and manufactured into a range of other products. To avoid the cost and inconvenience of disposal, at Supercheap Auto, we offer a FREE battery recycling service. Simply take your used battery to any of our stores, and your lead acid battery will be recycled by Century Yuasa free of charge!

Yes, Supercheap Auto can test and replace most standard vehicle batteries. Please note a pre-inspection may be required to confirm the installation can be completed safely for your specific vehicle.

Do I need to book a battery service before coming into store?
No, most stores can assist with battery testing and fitment on the spot. However during busy periods such as weekends, we recommend contacting your local store in advance to ensure a team member is available to assist you immediately.

How long does battery testing or charging take at Supercheap Auto?
Standard battery tests are typically completed in under 10 minutes. If the battery requires charging, the duration can vary from a few hours up to 48 hours depending on the size, capacity, and current state of charge.

Can I bring my hybrid or electric vehicle in store for battery services?
Hybrid and electric vehicle high-voltage battery systems are outside the scope of our battery services. These systems require specialised diagnostic equipment and certified technicians to ensure safe handling. We recommend contacting a qualified specialist for assistance.

Will battery testing and charging affect my vehicle's settings?
Testing or charging does not affect settings while the unit remains connected. If the battery is removed for these services, settings such as the clock and radio presets may reset once power is disconnected. These functions can usually be restored quickly once the battery is reinstalled.

How do I know if my battery needs testing, charging or replacement?
Slow starting, dim lights, or electrical issues often indicate a battery requires attention. A test can confirm the condition of the unit and determine if it remains healthy or needs replacement. If the battery is low but in good condition, it may only require charging. If the unit fails a test or cannot hold a charge, a replacement is recommended.
