The XTM 40A DC-DC 2.0 Battery Charger is a fully automatic dual-input charger for keeping a second battery topped up when your four-wheel drive is parked in camp or working off-grid. Its 40A charging rate and MPPT solar controller accept both DC and solar inputs, and it works with lead-acid, AGM, gel, calcium and lithium (LiFePO4) chemistries without manual adjustment. Push-button battery type selection and memory function mean it learns your preference and applies it at the next charge cycle.
The charger uses a six-stage algorithm to maximise charge speed and battery life: qualification tests the battery's starting voltage (below 2V and it cannot charge); recondition applies a small current to activate the battery and improve efficiency; bulk charge delivers maximum current to minimise time to acceptable voltage; absorption tapers current as voltage rises to prevent overcharging; float and analysis drops current to zero when fully charged and measures voltage stability over 1 minute; maintenance applies periodic pulse currents to hold the battery at about 13.5V and repeat stages 1–5 if voltage drops below 13V.
Pulse mode technology reduces plate oxidation and balances electrolyte consistency for longer service life. Built-in safeguards protect against overcharging, short circuit, overheating and reverse polarity connection. The IP65 rating seals out dust and water spray, making it durable in field conditions.
