The ToolPRO Thread File Metric is a double-ended hardened steel tool for cleaning and repairing damaged or rusty external threads. Metric pitch sizes from 0.8mm to 3mm are clearly marked on the tool centre, covering the sizes you meet on axles, shock bolts, steering head shafts and other threaded components. A zinc passivated finish protects the tool itself from corrosion during storage and use.
To restore a damaged thread, match the correct pitch by holding the file against the thread with no light showing through when aligned correctly. File with medium pressure, working from the undamaged sections toward the affected area, and check progress regularly to avoid removing excess material. The double-ended design gives you two working faces on a single tool.
