The ToolPRO Thread File Metric is a four-sided hardened steel tool for cleaning and repairing damaged or rusty external threads. It covers metric pitch sizes of 0.8, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.5 and 3mm, with sizes marked on the tool centre for easy identification. The zinc passivated finish provides corrosion protection.
This thread file suits axles, shock bolts, steering head shafts and other threaded components requiring restoration. Match the correct pitch by holding the file against the thread—no light should show through when aligned correctly. File with medium pressure, working from undamaged sections toward the affected area. Check progress regularly to avoid removing excess material.
