The set contains 30 steel blades ranging from 0.051–0.889mm (0.002–0.035 inches) for spark plug and lifter clearances, plus 6 brass blades from 0.152–0.406mm (0.006–0.016 inches) for work around magnetic components where steel would interfere.
To use a feeler gauge, first clean the gap and ensure the blades are clean and well-oiled. Select the closest blade that fits the gap, feeling for the same resistance you would sense peeling tape from a roll. Stack multiple blades until you achieve a snug fit, then add up the total thickness and compare against the workshop manual to verify your measurement is within specification. The fan-style construction with protective steel cover keeps the blades organised and safe during storage.
