The Thinkware iVolt Mini External Battery Pack IVOLTMN extends dash cam parking mode recording while reducing strain on the vehicle's battery. It uses a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery rated at 12.8V 4,500mAh (57.6Wh), a chemistry chosen for its tolerance of extreme in-vehicle temperatures. The battery charges in about 45 minutes when hardwired, or around 60 minutes via Plug & Play, and extends parking mode recording to approximately 20 hours for a 1-channel dash cam or 16 hours for a 2-channel dash cam before needing to recharge. The package includes 2 cables and fuse taps for wiring into the vehicle's fuse box, while a Thinkware Hardwiring Cable HWC is required separately.

Thinkware dash cams hardwired without the iVolt Mini typically record in parking mode for around 8 hours before powering down. With the iVolt Mini fitted, the dash cam draws power to charge only while the vehicle is running, so it relies solely on the battery pack once the ignition is off, reducing wear on the vehicle's own battery from long-term parking mode discharge. This makes it suited to luxury vehicles and vehicles with smaller batteries, where battery drainage can be costly to resolve.
