The Sony 8.95" CarPlay & Android Auto head unit XAV-AX8100 is a single-DIN digital media receiver for drivers adding modern smartphone connectivity to their dash. Its oversized 8.95 inch (22.7cm) anti-glare touchscreen floats above a single-DIN chassis, and the 3-way adjustable mount tilts, extends and raises so it fits a wide variety of vehicles without replacing the factory layout. Wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto give access to maps, messages, calls and music through a familiar smartphone interface, with Siri and Google Assistant voice control operated through the supplied external microphone for hands-free use on the road.
The Sony XAV-AX8100 pairs a 4 x 55W Dynamic Reality Amp 2 amplifier with Dynamic Stage Organiser processing to improve stereo positioning from dash-mounted or door speakers, and a 10-band graphic equaliser tailors the sound further. Three 5-volt preamp outputs (front, rear and subwoofer) support external amplifiers for drivers building a larger sound system, while the rear USB input and reverse camera input with customisable guidelines round out the connection options.
