The Ryco N99 MicroShield Cabin Air Filter RCA333M is engineered to protect vehicle occupants from biological contaminants carried in outside air. Also referred to as a pollen filter, it uses a three layer MicroShield media comprising an anti-viral pre-filter, an activated carbon layer and an electrostatically charged layer, with N99 medical grade media rated up to 99.7% efficient at capturing airborne bacteria and viruses as small as 0.3 micron. Anti-viral and anti-bacterial agents embedded in the media stop trapped pathogens from growing within the filter.
RCA333M filters particles down to 0.3 micron, far smaller than a human hair at roughly 90 micron, trapping pollen, dust and dirt before they reach the cabin. The activated carbon layer acts as an odour barrier against exhaust gases and noxious smells, while flame retardant media construction suits continuous in-vehicle use. Ryco recommends replacing the cabin air filter every 15,000 kilometres or once a year to maintain this level of protection.
