The Polycraft Etch Primer 400g is a fast-drying grey primer designed to etch into metal surfaces and improve paint adhesion. It is suited to a wide range of metals including mild steel, aluminium, zincalume, galvanised iron, chrome, copper, brass and stainless steel, and can be top coated with most finishes including enamels, epoxies, lacquers, polyurethanes, acrylics and chlorinated rubber.
Etch primer needs to sit in direct contact with the bare metal surface, so the area should be thoroughly cleared of paint, rust, rough textures and metal filings before application. Wiping the surface with a cloth soaked in multi-purpose thinners removes traces of grease, oil and dirt residue ahead of priming.
