The Garrett Speed Sensor Garrett, Sensor Only (Thread Type) internal use only, G769366-0001 measures turbocharger shaft speed on Garrett GT and GTX catalogue turbos with a threaded speed sensor provision. This turbocharger shaft speed sensor threads directly into a machined speed sensor port and is set to a nominal 0.8mm clearance from the compressor blade edge, which equates to roughly 1.6 turns back from first contact at the 0.5mm thread pitch.
The sensor runs on a 5V DC supply and returns a square wave signal at one eighth of the input frequency, so the reading can be scaled for the number of compressor wheel blades and fed to a shaft speed gauge or a data logger. It reads aluminium and titanium compressor wheels, giving tuners real shaft speed data for checking a turbo match and watching for over-speed. This item is supplied as the sensor only, with a 40mm shaft length, and does not include the wiring harness, gauge or spacer block from the full kit.
