Offered in only 4 body shapes and 4 trim packages the Holden VY Commodore was the first series to not release a basic base model V8. The base was replaced with the SV8 which at the time started at over $40,000. Other variations included; SS ; Berlina ; Calais, with the latter two having the V8 as a factory upgrade option. Body shapes included a 4 door sedan, 4 door wagon, and a Utility style-side or tray.
