Sustainability
Our vision is to inspire people to live their passion. It's a vision that is relevant for both today and tomorrow and is at the core of how we create value and build a lower impact business.
At Supercheap Auto, we understand it is important to adapt to an ever-changing world, globalised economy, and social environment.
We also recognise the importance of continuing to learn and striving to be better every day. In a rapidly evolving sustainability environment, customers are seeking greater transparency and accountability from the business community.
Sustainability Initiatives
Globes & Wipers
We are currently trialling a program to collect and recycle globes and wiper blades. This trial is operating only at our Cannon Hill store. We will endeavour to recycle as much of the returned content as possible, however some of the componentry attached to wipers and globes may not be fit for recycling and will need to be disposed of. We are embarking on this trial in the hopes of finding a solution that is fit for purpose to be rolled out more widely across our stores.
Packaging
Supercheap Auto is committed to making better choices for the packaging we design and procure.
As part of Super Retail Group, we are members of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) and are
committed to making meaningful leaps forward towards national packaging targets in the next few years and beyond.
Further, we are using our influence in the wider to community to inspire others brands and our suppliers to share our vision and journey.

Australasian Recycling Logo's (ARL)
We understand customers want to utilise their recycling bins and see the packaging they bring home be made
into another product rather than end up in landfill wherever possible. Supercheap Auto supports the recovery
of resources and is taking purposeful action to contribute to a more circular economy.
By communicating recyclability via the ARL on our own branded products, we aim to remove any confusion
on how to best dispose of (often multiple) items of packaging and do so in a way that is evidence based.
For more information on what each of the logos specifically mean and how the recyclability is determined please visit arl.org.au
Soft Plastics Recycling
Did you know that soft plastics are generally NOT kerbside recyclable in Australia and New Zealand at this current time?
Further, soft plastics in home recycling bins can contaminate the other recyclables in the load and get stuck in the machinery that sorts recyclable material.
As part of our packaging goals, we are systematically evaluating the use of plastics in our own branded products.
Sometimes this means removing an item of plastic, sometimes it’s changing it out for a lower impact option,
and sometimes it may be to change to a plastic type with more recyclability options in Australia and New Zealand.
We have partnered with REDcycle and NZ Soft Plastics to support further life cycles for these plastics.
Both these bodies partner with industry and government to not only collect and recycle soft plastics, but to find new and innovative end markets for the material.

Aerosols
Please note* No aerosol should be placed in any household bin with product or propellent left inside. If your product is aged, blocked, or in any way unable to be emptied it must be disposed of responsibly through your council’s hazardous waste program. Please be considerate of the health and safety of people in your community.
Aluminium and steel are highly recyclable resources, which we would like to encourage our customers to dispose of correctly to allow that material to be recovered and reused. We purchase around 240 million aerosols every year, with general aerosols containing between about 60 and 100g of steel or aluminium.
Some councils have the infrastructure to be able to recycle the metal well, while other councils find aerosols to be problematic and do not currently have access to good pathways of recovery. If you would like to ensure you are making the best choice for your empty aerosol at home, please check your local council’s capability here:
