Hi Folks
Despite the various technological advances we have available that make our cars safer, driver education and car safety and will always remain a high social priority. The team here at Supercheap Auto and I are keen to educate drivers on the importance of car and road safety and car maintenance.
While there are laws and regulations in place to govern the on-road environment, in a similar sense to racing and the race track, the roads are still very often unpredictable. The roads are not race tracks; race tracks are much more controlled environments. After racing with many drivers on the V8 Supercar scene, I can generally predict what another driver might do in a given situation. This is not the case on our roads; it is very difficult to judge other drivers' experience and ability. Extra care and consideration need to be taken to prevent accidents.
All the technology a modern car provides will never replace the human aspects of driving. Common sense is probably a drivers' greatest safety asset. Understanding your own ability and your car's limitations is an important aspect in ensuring your own and other drivers safety.
Drive to stay alive!
Cheers, Russell Ingall
