How to Remove Rusted Paint Chips?

Question from Eddy:

I've noticed rust forming on a few chips on my bonnet. I want to treat them ASAP. How do I address this problem?

Answer:

I would suggest that you apply Septone Rust Converter to the stone chips as per label instructions.

Quick fix: Purchase a can Power Plus Touch Up Paint that matches the colour of your vehicle, spray some of the paint into the cap until it pools on the bottom; using a small touch up paint brush to apply the wet paint directly onto the chipped area. Clean up the brush with Septone All Purpose Thinner.

Alternatively we have a number of Dupli-colour Touch Up Brushes available in store which may match your vehicles paintwork, otherwise if we do not sell your matching colour, they are available to specially order in at your local store.

Permanent fix: Sand the chip with 400grit wet or dry sandpaper, apply 400g aerosol Septone primer Filler and allow to dry. Sand the primer with 600grit wet or dry sandpaper, then wash the entire area with Septone Wax & Grease Remover. Apply colour matched Power Plus Touch Up Paint (allow to dry), followed by Power Plus Top Coat Acrylic Aerosol (allow to dry), buff and polish the repair after paint has dried for 24 hours.
