Fixing sound system problems?
Question from Larissa:
I just had a new head unit and two 4" speakers installed in the fron of my 1989 ford laser and the sound worked for about ten mintues then cut out. The power is still coming through the cd player however the sound is not. I'm waiting to get my back 6"9 speakers installed and I was wondering if the problem will cease then as there is more output for the sound? The sound also cuts out whilst going over large bumps which confuses the situation. Thanks
Answer:
This sounds like installation problems but because of the amount of contributing factors that “could” make this happen it’s a bit hard to ascertain what the problem is without looking at it.
The first thing I would look at is to make sure that the negative and the positive wires going to the speakers exposed and touching and the second is that the connection with the speakers is solid.
As long as the speakers are solidly connected and properly insulated you shouldn’t have a problem with installing some 6x9s provided you have adequate power from your head unit to run them.
